Method

For large projects, we use the steps below. For smaller projects, we tailor the process. We want to insure that our clients know what we are doing on their behalf and approve it at each major milestone of their project. Early, clear communication saves time and money.

Step 1: Outline

  • For small projects, perhaps a simple email.
  • For larger projects,
    • a working document
    • current information architecture ,
    • current database schema,
    • required elements from the client,
    • and stated deliverables

Step 2: Consultation

  • For small projects, this step is not generally necessary.
  • For larger projects,
    • revised or new information architecture,
    • revised or new database schema,
    • request for client-provided materials (e.g.,web logs, keywords, etc.),
    • and other deliverables pertinent to the project

Step 3: Conception

  • For small projects, this step is generally not required.
  • For web development or site redesign projects,
    • creating web designs based on the approved information architecture,
    • creating or revising a database based on the approved schema,
    • review of client provided materials,
    • and other work pertinent to the project
  • For consulting or search engine optimization projects,
    • review of client provided materials,
    • research into a client's questions or problems,
    • assessment of current website and web server capabilities,
    • and other work pertinent to the project

The client is required to sign off on this step before proceeding to the implementation. Clients choose a new website design, approve web application work flows and database schema, and provide feedback and content.

Step 4: Implementation

  • For small projects, the task is performed and sent for review by the client.
  • For web development or site redesign projects,
    • develop web application,
    • create website based on design template,
    • place content in new website,
    • and other work pertinent to the project
  • For consulting or search engine optimization projects,
    • create search engine optmization plan,
    • modify client's web pages with pertinent coding changes,
    • create any necessary new pages,
    • and other work pertinent to the project

For most projects, this is the implementation stage. Web applications are developed. Web designs are implemented with content provided by the client. Search engine optimization plans are written and sites are submitted. Web consulting reports or recommendations are written.

Step 5: Testing

  • For small projects, client approves changes and the affected pages are posted to the client's site.
  • For web development or site redesign projects,
    • web application tested by both Gordian Web staff and client,
    • client reviews site and makes last round of request for changes or modifications,
    • client signs off on site,
    • site made "live" on client's servers,
  • For consulting or search engine optimization projects,
    • coding changes are made live,
    • site submitted to appropriate search engines and pay-per-placement services,
    • search engine optmization plan or web consulting report delivered to client

The client sees their project come to fruition. Gordian Web will be available to handle any questions the client may have once the site is live. We enjoy a collaborative relationship with our clients. Please contact us if you have any questions or would like further information.
